“High Stakes in Minneapolis: TABL Deadline Deals Shake the League”

The August 11th transaction deadline has come and gone, and TABL managers didn’t disappoint. With the owners meeting in Minneapolis as the backdrop (and maybe a few adult beverages helping grease the wheels), the league saw a flurry of trades that could reshape the pennant race.

Seattle came in hot, cutting multiple deals with the San Diego Friars. The Mounties shipped out Joey Bart, Tyler Glasnow, and Carlos Correa in separate trades, stocking up on draft capital with the Friars’ first, second, and fifth picks. Not content with just future talent, Seattle also swung a deal with Las Vegas, landing veteran slugger Eugenio Suarez to keep their current lineup dangerous.
The Las Vegas Gamblers lived up to their name, wheeling and dealing across the table. They moved Suarez, Mason Miller, Jesse Winker, and more, bringing back a mix of young bats, arms, and draft picks. It’s a classic Gamblers move—risk today for a shot at a stronger tomorrow.

Cincinnati was plenty busy too, sending Cedric Mullins to Miami, Joel Payamps to Boston, and making several other moves while diving deep into the scrap pile to claim arms like Shelby Miller and Kyle Muller. Clearly, the Reds are reshaping their roster on the fly.
Meanwhile, the New York club pulled off one of the splashiest moves of the meeting, swapping Nico Hoerner and a draft pick to St. Louis for Luis Arraez. Two premier contact hitters switching uniforms—it doesn’t get much more fun than that.

St. Louis didn’t stop there, flipping Josh Naylor to Buffalo for a first-rounder, while Denver and Toronto quietly worked the margins with a prospect-for-prospect deal.
And don’t overlook the DFA list: Kris Bryant, Julio Urias, and Mike Clevinger all hit waivers. Could one of these veterans find a new home before the September 15th deadline? That’s the drama that keeps GMs glued to their inboxes.
When the dust settles, we’ll look back at Minneapolis as one of those turning points in the 2025 season. For some teams, the path to October glory just got a little clearer. For others, the rebuild is in full swing. Either way, the second half promises fireworks.
